my name is james worsham.

I was born and raised in Plano, Texas, a large suburb in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. I was introduced to the guitar at age 13 after my cousin Adam taught me how to play “Secret Agent Man”, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Around that same time, my older cousin Wade, who was a fantastic musician/songwriter, began recording his songs on a 4-track tape recorder. Hearing his songs evolve from rough idea to finished product sparked something inside of me that I couldn’t quite explain. It also showed me that you didn’t need a giant mixing console, tape machines, and stacks of expensive outboard gear to record a great song; it was all about the song, and more specifically, capturing the raw emotion that makes the song special.

When I was in 8th grade, my parents bought me a Boss BR-8 Digital 8-track recorder, and my whole world changed. Equipped with a $20 dynamic mic, a cheap cable, and no mic stand, there was no stopping me. I began recording song ideas, practicing recording techniques, and trying my best to emulate the sounds of my favorite records. I had a long way to go, but the seed was planted.

After more than a decade of producing/mixing my own music and music for other people, I finally decided the time was right for me to jump into the world of self-employment. In January 2019, Worsham Mixing was born.

I truly love helping artists achieve their creative vision, and helping transform the ideas in their head into a finished product that sounds amazing. As a songwriter myself, I understand the unique challenges that come with writing and recording songs, dealing with a variety of different people throughout the process, and how frustrating it can be when it doesn’t go the way you thought it would.

At Worsham Mixing, your music and your vision matter. Whether you record on a laptop in a closet or you’re a professional touring artist signed to a major label, I would love the opportunity to work with you. I guarantee that you will love how your songs sound.
